New Social Committee!

We are very pleased to announce the formation of a  new social committee to assess suitable functions and activities to be held at the Golf & Country Club. The social committee will work closely with the PHGCC Management Team for the benefit of all residents and members (golfers and non-golfers).

The aim of your social committee is to seek ideas, keep everyone informed of activities, promote a social network amongst residents and to assist the Management Team in making the Golf community a friendly, caring and socially active place to live.

We live on a fabulous island with a magnificent golf course & Country Club facilities, let's enjoy it all and each others company together in this wonderful green environment.

Green Machine Challenge

The residents of the Golf Community have two fun monthly events where we challenge non golf residents for a monthly trophy ie the Green Machine (that's us) vs the Blue Brigade (that's everyone else).  We are regularly on the look out for new recruits, so if you know anyone interested in joining the team, please let us know.

  • Golf Challenge - a fun game of golf with lots of sledging - every last Thursday of the month. Simply book at the Golf Pro Shop.
  • Trivia Challenge - a fun and easy game played in pairs - every 2nd Thursday of the month. Simply email martin.joris@qm.com.au to reserve a seat.

Entries are welcome in either the trivia or golf or you can enter in both.

Best Bird Story

We want to publish a story every newsletter on the "best bird story".  The first one goes to Nic Tilley who has been keeping a very watchful eye over the birth of the two new baby Pied Oyster Catchers.  Mum & Dad hatched their eggs together on the Freshwater precinct and the young babies were regularly sited between Fairway No 8 & 9.

The Pied Oystercatcher is black with a white breast and belly. All oystercatchers have a bright orange-red bill, eye-rings and legs and a red eye. Young birds are similar in appearance to the adults, but lack the intense red-orange colours and are brown rather than black. The Pied Oystercatcher is shy of humans and seldom allows close approach which is why it is such an amazing experience to have these young babies raised right under our noses.  Well done Nic.
